Naked Marketing Podcast with Guest, Lisa Wise
I am excited to speak with this week’s guest, Lisa Wise, who is the CEO and Founder of Flock, a missions-based non-profit property management company based in Washington, DC.
The concept of her company is unique – with absolutely nothing like its kind in the entire country. Combining property management with a purpose, Lisa has, intentionally, created a super-niche for herself where she gets to market her product by doing what she loves while helping first-time buyers buy and manage a high-quality unit and live in a good neighborhood.
She explains that her passion for giving back to the community and building better homes is, in itself, a marketing tactic. She clarifies that goodwill is another form of marketing and that when people recognize you for doing good, it can build better visibility.
She ends by saying that because she created an intentional brand, marketing became a natural consequence of her actions. If marketing aims to gain visibility, then the first thing is to become visible, which is what goodwill does.
Lisa Wise‘s Top Suggestions on How to Avoid Marketing Mistakes
• Don’t over-discount your product. Typically, people perceive “discounts” as not being part of a high-quality product. It’s okay to price your product what it is worth.
• Don’t focus too much on volume. Doing more is not necessarily a good thing. Focus on what you do best and become an icon in your society by doing small, but targeted actions.
• Focus on goodwill. While not part of “traditional” marketing, doing good will always improve your reputation and make you more visible.
